The fifth round of the FA Cup got under way this evening, with Maidstone looking to continue their remarkable run in the competition at Championship side Coventry.
t was sad news for Maidstone fans as Coventry were triumphant with a 5-0 win.
The non-league side already knocked out Barrow, Stevenage and second-tier Ipswich to get to the last-16.
They're the lowest ranked team to reach this stage since Blyth Spartans in 1978.
Maidstone sold 4,800 tickets for the fifth-round tie.
Maidstone started their FA Cup run with a victory at Steyning all the way back in September.
The club’s longest run in the competition – which has featured home victories against Barrow and Stevenage – was extended after an astonishing victory over Ipswich, achieved by converting their only two efforts on goal.
With no replays in round five, the match this evening was the decider.
