M20 shut in Kent after lorry hits bridge
Police are on the scene
The M20 coastbound is closed, after a single vehicle collision involving a lorry which has struck a bridge and come to a stop, blocking the carriageway.
Kent Police is at scene, as are National Highways Traffic Officers who are assisting with traffic management. Plans are currently being held in regard to traffic caught within the closure with a view to slowly release it past the scene.
It has been confirmed by Traffic Officers at scene that specialist equipment will be required to clear the carriageway of debris and this is currently being sourced.
Diversion Routes
Road users travelling eastbound are advised to follow the hollow circle diversion symbol on road signs. Please note there is a height restriction of 4.7m on this route.
Exit the M20 at J8 and take the third exit at the roundabout and at the next roundabout take the first exit on to the A20
Remain on the A20 until the junction with Fougeres Way where it will will turn northwards towards J9 of the M20 and rejoin the M20 eastbound at J9.
Vehicles which exceed the height restriction of 4.7m will be diverted at scene via local routes.
