Kent Police have launched an investigation following a fatal collision on the M20.

Officers were alerted to the motorway just before 10:20pm on Friday evening (February 14th) to reports of a crash on the road.

When responders arrived at the scene, which was between Junction 8 and Junction 9 - spanning from Hollingbourne to Ashford, they found a car that was parked in the hard shoulder.

It was soon discovered that the driver of the car - a blue Kia Carens - had gotten out of the vehicle when they were hit by a Iveco box van.

The driver - a 71-year-old man - was sadly pronounced at the scene by emergency services. His next of kin has been informed.

A passenger in the car, believed to be a woman, was also treated for minor injuries following the crash.

An appeal has now been launched by Kent Police, urging anyone with information to get in touch.

Those who may be able to help officers in their investigations can reach out by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number KH/KA/008/25.
