Kent Police launch appeal following serious collision near Margate
Two women were taken to hospital in London for treatment
Kent Police are launching an appeal for information and witnesses following a serious collision near the coastal town of Margate.
Officers first received reports of an incident just after 9:30 a.m. on Friday (May 24th) after a black Vauxhall Astra had crashed into a white Toyota Aygo in Garlinge.
When responders arrived on the scene at the junction of Garlinge High Street and Shottendane Road, they found a number of people requiring medical attention.
The Astra had been involved in a car chase with Kent Police before it collided with the other car, according to the force.
Two women who were in the white Toyota were taken to hospital in London for their injuries. They currently remain in a serious but stable condition.
A third woman, who was also in the same car, was instead taken to a local hospital where she has been receiving treatment for her injuries.
Police arrested a 23-year-old man, whom they believe was in the black Vauxhall car at the time of the crash.
The man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and currently remains in police custody. He was also taken to hospital to be checked over for his injuries.
Officers now are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident take place to come forward.
Enquiries from Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are being carried out as they try to piece together the events leading up the collision.
Anyone who may have any information regarding the crash is being urged to get in touch with the force as soon as possible.
Those who have dashcam footage, or were witnesses to the collision itself, can get in touch with the force by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number SM/HG/53/24.
