Kent Police launch investigation following fatal Folkestone collision

A woman in her 70s was hit close to a car park exit on Beach Street

An investigation's started into a woman's death in a crash in Folkestone.

Police are looking into what happened by a car park exit on Thursday.

The woman in her 70s was hit by a car which was leaving Beach Street car park at around midday on Thursday.

She suffered serious injuries - and died in hospital a short time later.

Officers are appealing for information and any footage of the crash. They've not made any arrests.

Full statement from Kent Police:

"Officers investigating a fatal collision in Folkestone are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

"At around 12.05pm on Thursday 4 July 2024, a white Ford Transit van was involved in a collision with a pedestrian while exiting the Beach Street car park into Harbour Street.

"The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital where she later died."
