A man who was already banned from every Co-op store in Kent has been jailed after shoplifting from the Dartford branch.

Jamie Hopkins, who's 40-years-old, was issues a three-year court order in February 2023 that prohibited him from going into various Co-ops in Dartford without permission from staff. This was later extended to any of their stores in Kent.

Hopkins was arrested and charged on January 13th 2025 after he stole items on three occasions in January of this year.

He was sentenced to nine months in prison - charged with theft and breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order - after pleading guilty at Margate Magistrates' Court on January 21st.

Inspector Lee Cheesman said: "The CBO (Criminal Behaviour Order) to which Hopkins is subject is in place to protect local businesses and the community.

"Now that Hopkins is behind bars, I hope it serves to remind would-be thieves that we take shoplifting very seriously and will always strive to bring them before the courts to face justice."
