Kent man charged with stealing more than £15k in laptops

The 20-year-old was arrested by officers at Bluewater

A Rochester man has been charged with stealing laptops worth more than £15,000 in Kent and London.

Officers at the Bluewater shopping centre in Greenhithe made an arrest on January 24th after being called to reports of a theft from the Apple store there.

They were also able to recover the item.

20-year-old Benedict Ashi-Buogwu, of Cavendish Road, was later charged with theft.

He was also charged with a further laptop theft from the same store which happened on January 9th and four counts of theft from stores in London between Wednesday 20th December 2023 and Sunday 21st January 2024.

Mr Ashi-Buogwu was bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on February 21st.
