Kent first ever homeless pods have been built in Ashford.
The 23 apartments, which are all stacked on top of each other, have been designed to give people a temporary roof over their heads while they seek permanent homes.
They carbon neutral properties are located in the former Henwood carpark, by Ashford fire station. However, this is a flood zone, which means the homes have been placed on stilts to raise them to a 2.4m height.
Rehan Khodabuccus, is the director of Zed Pods, the company who partnered with Ashford Borough Council to bring this project to the area.
He said: "This is to give people their own front door, their own place to live in, which is near places to work with good transport links in order to create this upward spiral and help them kick on with a high quality of life and living.
"The goal is to reduce homelessness in the area and which is why we will push through and try house as many people, who are at risk of being homeless, as we can.
"And to be able to deliver as many of these peoples, with these lower energy bills and neutral carbon foot print is amazing.
