A man's been jailed after a series of break-ins in Whitstable and the Isle of Sheppey.

Darren Rogers stole a scooter and bank card from Sheerness Fire Station in late January, as well as jewellery from a home in Whitstable.

Officers identified Rogers from a CCTV image and he was arrested the same evening.

The 45-year-old, formerly of Cavell Way in Sittingbourne, admitted two counts of burglary, one of attempted burglary, fraud and handling stolen goods at Canterbury Crown Court.

He was jailed for three years.

Detective Constable Matthew Burridge, Kent Police's investigating officer, said:

"Rogers is a persistent offender who committed these five offences in the space of just four days.

"I am pleased our investigation has seen him brought to justice, that stolen items have been returned to their owners and Rogers has been removed from the streets of Kent."
