Jail for man who carried out sexual assaults in Ash
Kent Police was contacted in 2022 and it was reported that two young girls had been sexually assaulted at a property in the village
A jail term has been imposed on a man who sexually assaulted two girls in Ash, near Sandwich.
Kent Police was contacted in 2022 and it was reported that two young girls had been sexually assaulted at a property in the village.
Jahrad Alderton-Ford, of Cop Street, was arrested the same day as the report was received and an investigation was carried out.
The now 43 year old was subsequently charged with two counts of sexual assault, but denied the offences, resulting in a trial.
In October 2024, he was convicted of the offences at Canterbury Crown Court and has today (7 February 2025) been sentenced at the same court.
He was jailed for seven years and ordered to serve an extra year on licence following that term.
Alderton-Ford will also be the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order until further notice, to reduce the risk of him reoffending following his release.
Detective Constable Emma Garcia, Kent Police's investigating officer, said: "These were awful offences against young victims and I am pleased Alderton-Ford has been brought to justice for his actions.
"By refusing to admit what he had done, he forced his victims and their family to go through a trial and I am pleased the jury saw through his denials.
"I would like to praise the bravery of the victims in this case, and I urge anyone who has been the victim of sexual offences to report it to police so we can ensure offenders are held responsible for their crimes."
