House used as drug den and plagued by anti-social behaviour shut down in Gravesend
Kent Police have been granted a 3 month closure order
A house which was the scene of drug use and anti-social behaviour in Gravesend has been shut down.
Officers have been repeatedly called to the property on York Road in recent months due to the conduct of the occupiers and visitors. Local people reported multiple incidents including threatening behaviour, frequent disorder, excessive noise and damage.
In response, officers went to Maidstone Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 24 September and applied for a closure order for the premises.
This was granted for three months and, on the same day, officers attended the property with council officials to secure it. Any unauthorised person entering the property can be arrested.
PC Jo Hammond said: "We are committed to doing everything we can to tackle antisocial behaviour and will not hesitate to take similar action when persistent crime from one household blights the quality of life for everyone else.
"We encourage residents to report such incidents to us so we can identify more potential opportunities to enact closure orders alongside the relevant local authorities."
