A hockey club in Kent has been showing it's support for their players who were selected for Great Britain's Olympic squad, with one month to go till Paris 2024.

Holcombe Hockey club, who are in the Men’s Premier Division and Women’s Premier Division, have had a player and their head coach selected.

Goalkeeper, Ollie Payne, will be competing in his second Games having played in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 in Japan. While Holcombe's new Director of Hockey and the Men’s first team Head Coach, Kwan Browne, will also be travelling to Paris as an assistant coach to Paul Revington for GB’s men.

When asked what it means for Holcombe, Lucas Ball said: "We're really proud of the guys that do get to go and for Ollie it's well deserved.

"Since he's joined the club he's show how good he is, he's a world class keeper, probably the best in the world at the moment.

"The last three years as a Holcombe player he has made saves that no one else would make, and he has certainly kept us in games at time and won us a lot of points. He's also a really good organiser, he's one of the voices you always hear on the pitch.

For the Women's team, there were no players chosen but former ones such Sarah Jones, Miriam Pritchard, Sarah Robertson and Charlotte Watson did make the team, as well David Ames, Phil Roper and Sam Ward in the Men's team.

Lucas said: We've also got quite a few former Holcombe players in the squad and it's really nice to see.

"Of course, we hope things go well for Team GB out in Paris, and particularly the men, I believe, have a really good chance at meddling this year."
