Fire in Rochester being treated as 'suspicious'

A fire involving derelict properties is being treated as suspicious

Kent Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed they are treating a fire as suspicious.

Crews were called to Lodge Hill Lane in Chattenden just before 6pm yesterday (Wednesday 10 April).

The service said four fire engines were at the scene to extinguish a fire involving derelict properties.

Residents were urged to to keep windows and doors closed whilst firefighters tackled the blaze.

In a final update, Kent Fire and Rescue Service said:

"Crews have made good progress to extinguish a fire involving two derelict properties in Lodge Hill Lane in Chattenden, Rochester, and are dampening down remaining hotspots.

"Smoke in the area has now reduced, and people living or working nearby are no longer advised to keep windows and doors closed.

"No injuries have been reported, and the cause is being treated as suspicious."
