Major road closed in Herne Bay due to 'police incident'

A major route has been closed while emergency services respond to concerns for a person’s welfare

Kent Police have confirmed a major route was closed this morning while emergency services responded to concerns for a person’s welfare.

Drivers are facing delays on the A2990 Old Thanet Way due to the incident.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “We were called at 5.52am on Friday (June 14) to a report of concern for a person near the A2990, Old Thanet Way in Herne Bay.

“Emergency crews are at the scene and there is a road closure in place between B2205 Greenhill Bridge Road and the A299, Thanet Way Herne Bay Junction while they respond to the incident.”

We also contacted South East Coast Ambulance Service, they said: "SECAmb were called shortly before 6am this morning to reports of a person in need of medical attention on the A2990 in Herne Bay.

"Crews arrived and assessed and treated one person before taking them to Kings College Hospital in London for further care."
