An elderly man has died after he was hit by a car in Maidstone in the summer.

The 78-year-old man was struck by a black Ford Focus at around 10.40am in King Street on the 15 August.

He recently died in hospital.

The victim had been crossing the road with a woman, who was also injured but has since been discharged from hospital.

The driver stopped at the scene and has been assisting police with their enquiries.

Detective Constable Jim Galbraith said:

‘The victim had been walking from outside Boots and in the direction of the King Street carpark when the collision happened.

He sadly died in hospital on 26 October, and we are now appealing to anyone who may have seen this incident to contact us.

We are also asking drivers who were in this area to check any dashcams which may retain important footage.’
