The mum of a teenager who died in a crash near Broadstairs last year has asked the Kent County Council 'to do the right thing'.

In October, 18 year old Ethan Entwistle was a passenger when he was killed on Dumpton Park Drive near Broadstairs in October.

His mum, Keena Entwistle Lewis, has since campaigned for traffic-calming measures on the 30mph road. She wants radar speed sign to alert drivers.

However, Kent County Council confirmed last week that it will be taking no further action on her petition for now.

A KCC spokesperson said: “Any death on Kent’s roads is tragic, and we send our deepest condolences to Ethan’s family.

“As with all fatal and serious crashes, Kent Police undertake a robust investigation to ascertain any causation factors in such incidents. The findings are subsequently made known to Kent County Council, which upon advice from the police and the coroner, where necessary, will subsequently undertake any work to help prevent a similar type of incident from occurring again.

"As stated in the report, KCC has implemented some measures since the incident, however, the Police investigation is still ongoing.

“One death on our roads is too many and we will work with Kent Police and other partners to ensure any issues raised are resolved.”

Although expecting this decision, Keena says she is still 'disappointed' but has promised to keep fighting for Ethan.

She said: "Please do the right thing, please think if this was your child would you happily just sit there and no do anything. This was my baby, he was only 18 and I'm destroyed I don't want anyone else to feel this way.

"I'm disappointed, even though I was expecting it I would like them to do further things along here. Hopefully I will continue to be an itch that they can't reach until they listen and do something along this road.

"Ethan always wanted the best for people, he always looked out for people. This is for him, this is in his name, if we can stop just one crash, stop just one person from being seriously hurt then to me Ethan didn't die in vein.

"I'm going to get road safety measures along Dumpton Park Drive, I won't give up until i get them. I would always do whatever I possibly could for my boys and that's not changed now, I will keep fighting for Ethan and other people.
