Kent Police have seized around 300 plants in Ashford.

The force was alerted to a suspected cannabis cultivation in Smarden on 15 March, where a fire had also been reported.

Officers attended and the fire was extinguished by Kent Fire and Rescue Service, who made the area safe.

There were no reported injuries.

Police later removed a large number of cannabis plants and associated growing equipment from the site.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire and to identify those behind the cannabis cultivation.

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses and more information.
