Burglar pair jailed after stealing from multiple homes in Sheerness

A pair of burglars who broke into multiple homes in Sheerness have been jailed.

David Hansen and Ryan Kiely also threatened one of their victims when they discovered they were still at home.

Kent Police was alerted to an incident in Southsea Avenue, Minster on Sea, on 20 February.

Hansen had broken in and stolen jewellery, documents and car keys, as well as a van that was parked outside.

Another similar report was received a week later in relation to a dwelling in Fleetwood Close.

While the victims were not at home, a window was broken and Hansen and Kiely entered and stole jewellery, watches, and cash

One week later, a further property in the area was targeted.

The burglars stole designer handbags and a mobile phone and they made threats to the victim.

Kiely and Hansen were arrested on 24 April and both were charged the following day.

The pair pleaded guilty to multiple offences at Maidstone Crown Court on.

On 22 September, Hansen was jailed for 4 years and 9 months while Kiely was given a 3 year and 9 month sentence.

Detective Constable Kati Goldsmith said: ‘Hansen and Kiely are a pair of aggressive offenders who care nothing for the impact of their crimes."

"Everyone has a right to feel safe and secure in their homes, and the brazen behaviour of these two had a significant impact on their many victims.

"I am pleased that custodial sentences have been imposed, and hope it sends a clear message that this kind of criminality will not be tolerated, whilst helping to bring closure to those who have been affected.’
