Appeal for key witness to knife incident in Chatham to come forward
It follows reports that a man discarded a knife in the town
Investigators are appealing for a key witness to come forward following a report a man discarded a knife in Chatham.
At around 7pm on Friday (2 May) officers detained a suspect after he had been seen acting suspiciously in the Hills Terrace area.
The patrol was then approached by a motorist who stated the man had thrown a knife on the floor before his arrest.
A lock knife was seized and the 18-year-old man from Maidstone was taken into custody.
He was later bailed pending further investigation.
Officers are now appealing to the motorist who stopped, to get to contact them on 01634 792209, quoting 46/73160/25.
Anybody else who witnessed the incident is also urged to call the appeal line.
