An animal sanctuary in Kent is facing closure due to significant roof damage.

Eagle Heights Wildlife Foundation say a recent heavy downpour caused damage that made the main building at their site in Eynsford unusable without a complete roof replacement.

Repairs had taken place since it was installed 60 years ago, but no full replacement had occurred.

Eagle Heights is home to numerous birds of prey and mammals, and provides daily flying displays.

The Foundation also contribute to conservation work, including helping to release baboons and turtles in West Africa.

The building that has been damaged does not house animals, but is where amenities including a tearoom and toilets, and staff offices, are located.

The Foundation is now appealing for £100,000 of donations to fund the roof repairs.

Writing on Facebook, Eagle Heights hope their online fundraiser will "secure a new roof and ensure the continuation of their vital work."
