Two people are now dead after a multi-vehicle crash on the A96 near Inverness on Monday.

The three vehicle collision, involving a HGV, happened on the road at Redhill around 12.10pm.

53 year-old Chris Haycock, who was driving the Tesla involved, died yesterday after being taken to Raigmore hospital for treatment.

This followed the passing of 51 year old Helen Booth from Bolton, who was a passenger in the Tesla

A 37 year-old man, who was the driver of a Citroen van, was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to be treated for serious injuries.

Another passenger of the Tesla, a 23 year-old man, was released after being assessed in hospital.

The 69 year-old male HGV driver was uninjured.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay said: “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of Chris and Helen at this difficult time.

"We continue to support them and they have asked for their privacy to be respected.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash. I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, or anyone with information that could assist our investigation to please get in touch.

"Likewise, anyone with relevant dash-cam footage who has not already passed this to officers is asked to please contact us.”
