Teenager arrested over Inverness robberies

Police say an "imitation firearm" was used in both robberies last night

A man has been arrested in connection with two robberies in the Highlands.

Police say an "imitation firearm" was used last night when a car was stolen from Dores Road at around 9:40pm.

Money was also taken from a petrol station on Longman road a short time late.

Nobody was injured in either incident.

Police Scotland have confirmed enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesperson said: "A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with two robberies in the Inverness area on the evening of Thursday, 9 May, 2024.

"The first incident occurred around 9.40pm in Dores Road where a car was stolen.

"The second incident occurred shortly after around 9.50pm at a petrol station in Longman Road where a quantity of cash was stolen.

"Both robberies involved an imitation firearm and nobody was injured.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
