Power restored to properties after Inverness house fire

Power has been restored to homes affected by a house fire in Inverness this morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident on St Valery Avenue at around 6am.

Five fire appliances were sent to extinguish the blaze and power to properties on St Valery Avenue and Bruce Gardens was switched off for safety reasons.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service say one person was treated at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service, but didn't need to be taken to hospital.

An earlier comment from Police Scotland said: "Emergency services are currently dealing with a house fire on St Valery Avenue in Inverness reported around 6am today.

"There will be a power outage for residents on the street and Bruce Gardens to allow the fire service to deal with the incident."

This was later updated with: "Power has been restored to properties on St Valery Avenue and Bruce Gardens in Inverness as emergency services continue to deal with a house fire in the area.

"No one has been injured in the incident and emergency services remain at the scene."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service say they remain on the scene.

A spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 5.57am on Thursday, 4 January to reports of a dwelling fire in Inverness.

"Operations Control mobilised five fire appliances to the city's St Valery Avenue, where firefighters have extinguished the fire and currently remain working to make the area safe.

"One casualty was treated at the scene by Scottish Ambulance Service personnel but did not require to be taken to hospital."
