Pensioner killed in Caithness following A9 smash

A 71-year-old man has died following a fatal crash in Caithness with an appeal now from Police for witnesses.

Around 3pm on the 16th of October emergency services were called to the A9 at the Causeymire Windfarm near Mybster

The two vehicle crash involved a silver Audi A6 and red Volvo FH lorry, with the driver of the car pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Douglas Scott from Highland and Islands Road Policing said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the man who died at this difficult time. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

“To allow us to establish exactly that happened, I’m appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

“If you were in the area around this time and have dash-cam footage, please get in touch.”
