Moped rider seriously injured after Inverness crash

Anyone who was on Culduthel Road at around 5pm yesterday are being urged to contact police.

A man has been seriously injured following a collision between a moped and an SUV in the Highlands.

A green Piaggio Vespa and a white VW Touareg were travelling south on the B861, Culduthel Road in Inverness when the crash happened at around 5pm yesterday evening.

The 57-year-old moped rider was taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment, his condition is described as serious but stable.

A 64-year-old man who was driving the Volkswagen did not require medical attention.

He was the only person in the car.

The road had to be closed to allow crash scene investigators to conduct enquiries at the scene.

Sergeant Douglas Scott said: “I am appealing to any other road users who were on Culduthel Road around the time of the collision last night to contact us.

"If anyone has dash cam equipment, please check it as the footage could assist in our investigation into how this collision occurred.”
