Body found during searches for missing Lossiemouth woman

A woman's body has been found during searches for a missing person in Lossiemouth.

Police confirmed they were looking for Mary Fraser earlier today after a car she has access to was found on Inchbroom road.

Officers now say the body of a woman has been found in the Moray town.

She is yet to be formally identified, but Mary's family have been informed.

Police Scotland say the death is currently being treated as "unexplained."

A spokesperson said: "The body of a woman has been found in Lossiemouth during searches for a missing person.

"She is yet to be formally identified but the family of Mary Fraser, 57, who had been reported missing in the area has been informed.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
