65-year-old man dies following Dingwall house fire

Police Scotland say investigations into what caused the blaze are ongoing.

A man has died following a house fire in Ross-shire.

Emergency services rushed out to St Andrews Road, Dingwall this morning after being called at around 8am.

A 65-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland say investigations into the incident are ongoing.

A spokesperson said: "Around 8am on Thursday, 8 February, 2024, officers received a report of a fire on St Andrews Road, Dingwall.

“Emergency services attended and a 65-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing.”

Earlier today, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they attended the incident.

A spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 7.49am on Thursday, 8 February, to reports of a dwelling fire on St Andrews Road, Dingwall.

"Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and crews currently remain at the scene."
