An investigation is ongoing following an assault and robbery in the Highlands.

Police say a couple were approached, then threatened outside a store in the Smithton Park area by a man and woman around 7pm on April 1st.

A man was attacked before the suspects made off in the direction of Murray Terrace, with bank cards belonging to the victim.

He did not require medical treatment, but was "very upset by what happened."

Officers say the first male suspect is described as white, aged mid to late twenties, around 5ft 8ins, of slim build with mid brown hair.

He was wearing a pale coloured jacket, dark trousers and trainers.

The second suspect, a woman, is described as white, aged late twenties to early thirties, around 5ft 6ins, of medium build with dark hair with blue and purple dyed sections.

She was wearing an Adidas tracksuit top with stripes on the sleeves.

Detective Constable Kate Finlayson is urging anyone who may have information about the incident to get in touch with police.

She said: "Fortunately the man was not seriously injured but the couple have been left very upset by what happened.

"We are appealing to anyone who saw what happened or know who the suspects might be to get in touch.

"We would also like to speak to anyone who has private CCTV that might help with our investigation or was driving in the area and may have captured information on dash-cam that cold assist with our enquiries."

Anyone who can help are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3037 of Monday, 1 April, 2024, or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
