A carers group in Worcestershire says helping young people balance their education alongside their caring responsibilities can make a real difference for them.

Those aged from 6-25 across the county can be classed as young carers, if they provide help for a family member or a friend.

Team manager at Worcestershire Young Carers Laura Fullelove says it's important support is available to children who might be carrying out the role.

She said: "A lot of our young carers range from the age of six right through until 25, so that's a a large part of their growing up, and they're going through lots of different changes that everybody goes through as they grow up.

"On top of that they've got added responsibilities caring at home, so there might be occasions where they're dealing emotionally and mentally with a lot more than other young people out there.

"The main focus is to provide support to those if they need it, but also give them opportunities to be able to speak to us, and we know we can't take away those caring responsibilities altogether, but we can give them respite from it."
