There's a chance for a bit of history to be made later today, as a Worcestershire pub is aiming to build the longest ever bratwurst recorded in the Midlands.

The Castle in Droitwich Spa are trying to create a 12.12 metre long piece of food to represent the 1,212km distance between the pub and the home of Oktoberfest in Germany.

Megan Painter is part of the team, and she says it's taken a lot of effort and planning to get to this point.

"The team have been working hard for a few weeks now to work out how to do this," she said.

"It was an idea that a few of us came up with to see how we could celebrate Oktoberfest slightly different, and the size of the bratwurst is to represent how far it is from here in Droitwich to Munich.

"We believe it will be the longest bratwurst the Midlands will have ever seen, and we've got loads of ketchup and crispy onions to top it with.

"Everyone in the team is excited, and hopefully we can do it."
