A pool player in Worcestershire says he was delighted getting to represent England at the recent World 8-ball Pool Championships in Blackpool.

Kip Lenoir works as a porter at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, and finished eighth overall in the individual player rankings, with his over 60's team making it to the semi-finals.

He says it was great getting to also play alongside another player from the area in Tad Marszalek and share the moment.

"To have one Worcestershire based player playing for England at the World Championships was great, but to have two was extraordinary," Kip said.

"Tad was my former captain at county level, and he now he plays under me in the county team, we are on tour together, and go everywhere to places such as West Yorkshire, Stoke-on-Trent, four tournaments a year, he's just great to have by your side.

"My passion for the sport started when I was around 15-16 years-old, living in Wolverhampton at the time, I went down to the local pub, picked up a cue, and just started playing.

"From there it grew, I was virtually playing four times a week, then I packed it in for 15 years or so, and over the last 10 years I've only just picked it up again, but it was great to have the chance to be around such talented players from around the world at this tournament."

Kip managed to win 17 out of his 24 games at the tournament, with his England 'B' team being knocked out by eventual winners Australia 'A' at the semi-final stage.
