Jason Whittingham and Colin Goldring - the current owners of the Worcester Warriors - have announced they're in talks with an "interested party" to sell the club.
They have both agreed the terms of the sale, but nothing had been signed as of 5pm yesterday.
In a statement made online, they said: "We have been working closely with the interested party on the immediate deposit of significant funds that will allow Sunday’s Gallagher Premiership match against Exeter Chiefs at Sixways and Saturday’s Allianz Cup tie between University of Worcester Warriors and Harlequins to go ahead as scheduled.
We will provide a further update both on the sale of the club and this weekend’s matches on Wednesday."
It's after weeks of uncertainty and disruption at the stadium that meant staff and players were not paid on time and fixtures were cancelled.
The club fell into financial trouble after the COVID pandemic and the cost of living crisis left it unable to pay tax. Despite attempts to find a solution with the government, HMRC issued a winding-up petition.
Last month, local MPs called on the government to put it into administration as a way to save the local club. At the time, Worcester MP Robin Walker said "enough is enough".
A further update should be issued later today, when we will hopefully learn where we are in the sale process and if the Warriors will play this weekend.
In response to the news of the club's shaky future, players and staff flooded Twitter with heartfelt videos to explain what the club meant to them and why it was important that everything be done to save it.
Among them was scrum-half Ollie Wynn who revealed he'd since been made homeless.
