Worcester Cathedral peregrines get half a million YouTube views
Three chicks have hatched this Spring
A livestream of the peregrine falcon nesting box at Worcester Cathedral has had over half a million YouTube views, as the chicks hatched this year.
That's more than the total for the whole season in 2024.
The adult birds, named Peter and Peggy, laid four eggs with the first chick arriving on Easter Day, before the second and third chicks on 21st and 22nd April.
For the past three years, the pair have raised and fledged four healthy chicks.
This year one of the eggs was unviable and therefore failed to hatch – this is not unusual for the species though.
The three hatchlings are thriving in the nest being cared for by their parents.
A team of experts on the peregrine falcons in Worcester is hosting a series of drop-in sessions this Spring, with cameras, scopes and binoculars to see the birds up close and share their knowledge.
They'll be joined by Worcestershire Wildlife Trust (WWT) for three sessions on dates as follows:
Wednesday 30th April - 5.00 to 6.30pm
Friday 2nd May - 10.00am to 4.00pm (WWT)
Monday 5th May - 5.00 to 6.30pm
Thursday 8th May - 1.30 to 3.00pm
Wednesday 14th May - 5.00 to 6.30pm
Saturday 17th May - 10.00am to 4.00pm (WWT)
Thursday 22nd May - 1.30 to 3.00pm
Tuesday 27th May - 5.00 to 6.30pm
Friday 30th May - 10.00am to 4.00pm (WWT)

Monday 9th June - 1.30 to 3.00pm
Thursday 12th June - 5.00 to 6.30pm

There's no need to book, just turn up and watch and learn all about these fascinating creatures.
Chris Dobbs, Biodiversity Advisor for the Cathedral, said: “It’s great to be able to share the action from the nest on the livestream, much like many other UK Cathedrals, and at the drop-in sessions, and we’re delighted that Worcestershire Wildlife Trust have come on board this year. The birds are always incredibly popular and we can hopefully all enjoy watching the progress of the family again this year."
