A woman has died after a collision in Malvern yesterday (January 8).

At around 11.40am two cars were involved in a collision on Stocks Lane in Newlands.

A woman, aged in her 80s, was seriously injured and has since passed away in hospital.

A man, aged in his 50s, who was a passenger in the other car sustained serious injuries, which are thought to be life-changing but not life-threatening, and the driver of this car sustained minor injuries.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He had been released on bail as enquiries continue.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw either vehicle, a Volkswagon ID4 which was travelling southbound on Stocks Lane towards Newlands or a Mercedes A160 which was travelling northbound towards Leigh Sinton beforehand.

Detective Sergeant Rose Hughes said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died and the man who is seriously injured.

“We would urge anyone with information or dash cam footage to support our investigation to please get in touch. Please contact [email protected].”
