As part of the PCC’s ongoing commitment to improve road safety, he has provided the grownups with the resources to improve driving behaviour, and says it's now time for the young people of West Mercia to help highlight their road safety concerns.
All posters created will be shared with local policing teams and shared online to remind parents and other road users of the importance of driving safely, especially outside of schools.
West Mercia Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner told us: "We've launched this new road safety poster competition to really engage young people in the fight for safer streets and safer roads."
"We are very keen to get their engagement on this issue, and see what road safety means to them."
"We are very much hoping this new campaign will engage young people in understanding the issues around road safety, and how important this is for our youngest members of society."
"That's why we've written out to all the primary schools in the three counties and asked them to consider participating in this."
A number of schools will also win a mini-police officer for their efforts with the posters.
Mini-police officers are little mascots that make a big difference outside of schools, reminding road users to “Think before you park” or “Slow down”, promoting considerate behaviour.
Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion said: “I know that young people are affected by the harm caused on our roads in West Mercia.
“These posters will be a useful and creative reminder to us all on the importance of being considerate to protect our most vulnerable members of society.
“It is important we not only keep the children in our communities safe but support them to be ambassadors in their communities for road safety improvements.”
