The University of Worcester's women's cricket team say they want to address sexism in sport, and create inclusive environments for all players.

They’ve partnered with the national Her Game Too campaign, which aims to raise awareness of women’s voices within sports.

Chair of women’s cricket at the university Holly Neal says she hopes the initiative helps drive change and make it better for other younger girls that are growing up.

She said: “We want to show girls of all ability that cricket is a safe sport to come and have fun and develop skills without judgement of any sort.

"Things aren't going to change unless we want it to change, and hopefully this initiative helps us drive that change and helps us make it better for other younger girls that are growing up."

The partnership is focused on promoting gender equality, enhance inclusivity, and creating a safe and welcoming environment for female players and fans.

Charlotte Beaman-Evans is the senior lecturer in physical education for the university, and she said: "The partnership is important as it addresses critical issues that can often act as barriers to female participation in sports, potentially leading to people not engaging.

"I was a female in sport, I grew up with it and it is concerning, but rather than dwelling on what is still happening, let's look forward at what can be done."
