Many homes have woken up to snow in parts of the South West and Midlands this morning.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, which is due to remain in force until 10.00am

It says some roads and railways are likely to be affected, with longer journey times expected.

The warning areas covers from Bristol in the south up to the edge of Birmingham, with much of Gloucestershire included.

National Highways in the South West has urged motorists to allow extra time for their journeys this morning.

It posted on X: "Be reminded that gritting doesn't prevent snow from settling on the road."

The A361 Blatchbridge Rd to Marston RAB was among roads closed earlier due to ice and snow but it has now been cleared.
