A rescue operation is underway in Diglis after reports a person is in the water.

Emergency services were called just after quarter-past-ten this morning to the riverside on Severn Street.

A major cordon is in place to stop locals heading down to the waterside.

Crews are currently using boats and drones to search.

West Mercia Police said: "Emergency services are currently in the Diglis area of Worcester following a report someone had entered the river.

"An increased police presence can be expected this afternoon.

"The footpath along the river is currently closed, as searches continue and allow emergency services to access the river."
