A woman from redditch has been jailed for vilently attack two members of the public and two police officers.

Catherine Eaves, aged 37, from Stanley Close, appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court last week (Tuesday 12 October).

The court heard how she approached two men near a bench in the town centre on Monday 11 October and punched both of them in the face.

When she was arrested, Eaves became so violent in the back of the police car that the officers had to pull over.

She kicked the officers, spat in their face and bit one of them on the arm, causing a 1cm cut which broke the skin.

Eaves was also found to be guilty of breaching the terms of a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order granted in April 2021, which prohibits her from using foul, abusive or offensive language and/or behaving in an aggressive, threatening or intimidating manner.

Inspector Lee Page said: “The unprovoked attack on two members of the public was appalling in its own right and exacerbated by the disgusting assault on the two police officers who had arrested her.

“Thankfully nobody suffered serious injuries although one of the officers who was bitten had to receive a number of injections and take a course of antibiotics to prevent infection.

“This wasn’t the first time Catherine Eaves has come to police attention, which is why she was already subject to the terms of a CBO which was granted earlier in the year following a conviction for theft.

“We work closely with all of our partners in Redditch to ensure the town centre is a safe and welcoming place for people to come to work, shop and visit.

“We will use all powers at our disposal to disrupt those who behave in a criminal or anti-social manner to the detriment of the wider community.”
