Redditch has welcomed a new piece of art into its Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

People in the town can now see the Redditch Colour Palette public artwork, which is inspired by ideas from those in the area.

The project saw hundreds of suggestions for the design, with the final six colour panels being voted for by the public.

Stacey Barnfield is the artist who has produced the final design, and has carried out work like it around the country.

"It's been a really interesting process seeing the responses, and what people were actually designing to show what their area means to them," Stacey said.

"My idea came from me not seeing places in the kind of the frequency that I would do in a normal working day during COVID where we couldn't go out as much, and it got me thinking about art that had a connection to the place it was being shown in.

"Something like people thinking about their area they grew up in and what they remembered from that, or even where they met their partners, it ends up creating a piece which is unique to that place."

The final project consisted of the colours: Arrow Blue, Kingfisher Teal, Needle Steel, Enfield Chrome, Ditch Red, Palace Velvet.
