Redditch's Overdale Park among list of Green Flag award winners
145 parks and green spaces across the West Midlands have reached the high standards required to receive a Green Flag award in 2025
The Abbey Park's in both Evesham and Pershore are two names mentioned in a list of 145 parks and green spaces across the West Midlands to receive a coveted Green Flag award in 2025.
Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy have today revealed the winners and the names of places which have retained their status, with successful submissions from across the region for a range of sites including city parks and small, local green spaces.
Redditch's Overdale Park is among the winners, Bromsgrove's Sanders Park and Kidderminster's Broadwaters Mill Park some of the others included in the total.
In Worcester, Gheluvelt Park, Fort Royal Park, Cripplegate Park and Riverside Park have all retained their Green Flag status.
On hearing the official news, councillor Zoe Cookson who is chair of Worcester City Council’s environment committee, said: “We’re thrilled that our parks have once again achieved Green Flag status.
“Worcester is fortunate to have such well-maintained, attractive green spaces that can be enjoyed by residents and visitors throughout the year.
“Each of our parks and green spaces has its own unique character, and we’re incredibly grateful to the dedicated volunteer groups who help care for them, working alongside the City Council’s green space team.”
The Green Flag Award is the benchmark international quality classification for parks and green spaces, providing the high standards against which sites are measured, and which land managers, local authorities and volunteers pledge to achieve when applying for the award.
Launched 29 years ago, with the first awards given a year later, the scheme aims to recognise and reward the best green spaces in the country.
