The MP for Redditch says it's important something is done to address the issues facing special educational needs services in Worcestershire.

An Ofsted and Care Quality Commission report published in July from an inspection in April, found there to be widespread systematic failings in the system which the Worcestershire Local Area Partnership apologised for, and said they remained committed providing better support.

Labour's Chris Bloore was elected into the role as MP at this year's general election, and says he's been hearing from people in his constituency the impact these services have been having since he started.

"I think the CQC and Ofsted report highlighted what a lot of parents knew already," he said.

"My surgeries have been full of parents who've given up work, who are doing all that they can to get their children the support that they need, and the most frustrating element is we're writing off the life chances and the achievements of a lot of these children by not taking action.

"It's all well and good acknowledging that there's a problem, but we've actually got to do something about it, and I'll work with anybody in this county to get the services that the people elected us deserve.

"I'm trying to be that channel between the parents, government, and the services, so we can redraw these services and make them fit for purpose, because right now, too many incredibly bright children are not going to have the lives and the achievements that they deserve."

The next full inspection of the service will take place within three years, along with a monitoring inspection due in the 18 months following the report.
