The Prime Minister Keir Starmer says he is "committed" to tackling issues facing flooding across the country and to helping build flood defence schemes in areas such as Tenbury Wells.

Homes and businesses in the Worcestershire town were flooded over the weekend, after rainfall from Storm Bert led to the Kyre Brook bursting its bank, causing a wall to collapse and flood the main street.

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin asked the Prime Minister during today's (27 November) prime minister's questions about ensuring funding was available to build a scheme which would protect the area.

Speaking in the House of Commons during PMQs in response to her question the prime minster said: "We are committed to tackling this, that's why we set aside the relevant funding in our budget.

"I'll happily arrange for her to have a relevant meeting with the minister.

"We all know how devastating flooding is and the initial damage it causes.

"The the ongoing damage it causes, which goes on for years and years."

It's reported Tenbury Well is short of eight million pounds of funding for flood defences.
