Police attend 'peaceful protest' in Worcester
It involved around 150 people
Police officers overnight say they attended a peaceful protest in Worcester, involving around 150 people.
City Walls Road and Clare Street were closed last night (20/8) to allow the protest to take place, and members of the public not involved in the protest, are encouraged to avoid the area.
They later confirmed how the protest ended and the roads did since re-open.
Inspector Andy Hodgetts of South Worcester Police said: "The public have a right to peaceful protest, and we are working with the event organisers to ensure a safe gathering for those attending and the local community.
"I would like to thank the local community for their support and understanding.
"We will provide further updates in due course."
Earlier at the location, a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and is currently in custody.
