A pilot has died after a small plane crashed in Worcestershire.

West Mercia Police say they were called to Woodmancote, near Defford, at 10.45am yesterday morning (27 August), following reports that a small plane had experienced difficulties during take-off, causing it to descend rapidly to the ground.

They say emergency services attended, but the pilot was confirmed dead at the scene.

Nobody else was injured during the incident, and a spokesperson for the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) said: "The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has started an investigation into an accident involving a light aircraft which occurred near Defford, Worcestershire on 27 August.

"A team of inspectors has been sent to the accident site to gather evidence.”
