A mother has appeared in court charged with murdering her newborn son in Herefordshire, with her trial now underway.
Paris Mayo, 19, was 15 when she allegedly killed Stanley Mayo in Ross-on-Wye on 23rd March 2019.
Appearing at Worcester Crown Court, Mayo, formerly of Springfield Road in Ross-on-Wye, appeared solemn as the jury was sworn in, with the trial expected to last six weeks.
She denies killing the baby, and started to cry as names of her family members were read out to jurors.
The prosecution also outlined the experts and other people set to give evidence in the trial.
They include medical experts, paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service, doctors and nurses from the Wye Valley NHS Trust - which runs Hereford County Hospital - and forensic scientists.
Judge Neil Garnham outlined what was expected of them during the hour-long hearing at the court on Wednesday. The prosecution are set to open the case on Thursday afternoon.
The jury also heard that Mayo, wearing a black outfit, was a former pupils at Ross-on-Wye's John Kyrle High School and Gloucestershire College in Gloucester.
Mayo, of Ruardean in Gloucestershire, denies the one count of murder.
