The owners of Worcester Warriors have been outlining their redevelopment plans for Sixways Stadium this afternoon (10 December) at a public consultation event.

Proposals by Junction 6 Limited include increasing the capacity of the ground from 11,500 to 12,750, along with an on-site 120 bed hotel aimed at boosting the economy and tourism.

Also included in the plans are a national centre for Esports, and improved transport connections, with a view to re-introduce shuttle bus services to and from the city centre and rail station on matchdays.

The club haven't played at Sixways since they fell into administration back in 2022, but submitted a formal application last month to join the second division of English rugby for the 2025/26 season.

Oliver Holland works for Loxwood Holdings who are behind Junction 6 Limited, and he says it's great to be able to get the views of the public on these plans.

"It's really exciting, we've had really positive feedback so far," he said.

"There's a real buzz, from where we were six months ago maybe, where there was a lot of uncertainty, to hopefully now providing a bit more certainty on what the RFU (Rugby Football Union) entry will look like, but also how we can deliver that sustainably for the future.

"The whole point for Worcester Warriors is for there not be a single point of financial failure, so what we're looking to do is deliver facilities around the club that provide the capital and the revenue to ensure there isn't that gap in the finances, so the club can continue to flourish."

An official planning application is set to be submitted by the club to Wychavon District Council for these proposals, once the public consultation has closed on 16 December.
