World and Olympic medallist Steve Cram has teamed up with Worcestershire County Council and Wythall Community Association for a new running event this summer.
The Wythall and Hollywood Fun Run is set to take place on the 23rd June at Wythall Park and includes a 5k, 10k, and families on track relay race.
Adam Kent from Worcestershire County Council says it's great to have Steve on board for the event.
He said: "To be able to get someone like Steve in to help promote it and get people involved is just absolutely brilliant, and the fact that we've been able to pull something like this off is just fantastic.
"What we were trying to do was to think about how can we improve the outcomes in terms of public health, fitness, general well-being, and the mental health of people in the area, and get that out to people in the community.
"One of the ideas that came up was about a satellite event, and Wythall just seemed like the perfect place to do it so we could access a large catchment area."
Alongside the running, the Wythall Community Association are holding a fun day with food stalls, entertainment, and taster sessions of other activities on offer at the park.
Wythall Community Association have also chosen Primrose Hospice as the official charity partner, with runners who choose to fundraise for them receiving a full fundraising pack.
Adam himself will be running the event on the day, and has also been training for the London Marathon.
"The training is really hard ahead of London at the moment, so the thought of just doing a shorter run is an absolute pleasure really," he said.
"I hope as many people come forward and enter and we can make it a huge success story for Worcestershire and Wythall, and raise money for a great cause.
"If it does work, it's something I think people will want to see across Worcestershire a whole lot more, so this is just almost a start event really for us trying to get as many people as possible active across the region."
People can sign up for the event online by heading over to the Wythall and Hollywood Fun Run page.
