Schools in Worcestershire will receive an extra £33 million pounds in funding this year.
The funding boost for schools across the county is part of the Government’s £4 billion increase in spending for schools across the country.
Boris Johnson pledged to level up school funding by pledging over £14 billion for primary and secondary schools by 2022-23 when he became prime minister in 2019.
The total extra funding means mainstream schools will receive £41.7 billion in 2022-23 - an incrase of 5.8% per child.
From this money primary schools will receive at least £4,362 per pupil and every secondary school at least £5,669 per pupil.
Funding for children with special educational needs and disabilities has also been boosted by £1 billion - a 13% increase on last year's total.
The extra funding will help schools, councils, and other specialist providers in Redditch provide the right care and support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, so that every child receives the help they need to learn and fulfil their potential.
The increases in school funding follows the investment of nearly £5 billion in education recovery, which includes £1.5 billion on tutoring in schools and colleges across the country to help children and young people catch up on lost learning during the pandemic.
Rachel Maclean, MP for Redditch, said: “Historically we know that schools in Worcestershire have been underfunded compared to their counterparts in Birmingham.
“Successive Governments, of all colours, have failed to address this issue, but with the new National Funding Formula, and the Government’s commitment to level up education, we are finally ensuring schools in Redditch and Worcestershire receive the funding they deserve.
“Ever since I was first elected I have been fighting to ensure every child in Redditch, no matter their background, has access to a first class education.
"This multi-million pound funding increase this year will ensure young people in our town are given the chance to fulfil their potential.”
