Worcester man left with life changing injuries after being hit by car
Police have arrested a man on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol
A man has suffered 'life changing injuries in a collision in Britannia Square.
Officers were called to the scene in Britannia Square at around midday, following reports of a collision with a car and a pedestrian.
Police arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of a number of offenses, including driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to stop at the scene of an accident
A spokesperson for the force said:
"Police were called at around 12.10pm today (20 June) to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Britannia Square, in Worcester.
"A man, aged 47, has sustained injuries thought to be life changing but not life threatening and has been taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
"A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention, driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. He is currently in custody.
"The road was closed but has now re-opened.
